The Toronto Maple Leafs won’t wear themed jerseys for tonight’s annual Pride night celebration, and have never worn Pride jerseys in the past.

The team have hosted Pride nights in support of the LGBTQ community since 2017.

The Leafs say players will be provided with rainbow stick tape during the pre-game skate.

Head coach Sheldon Keefe and players were seen wearing rainbow-themed T-shirts during a morning press conference today.

Defenceman Morgan Rielly has participated in Toronto’s Pride parade in the past alongside general manager Kyle Dubas and president Brendan Shanahan.

“I believe actions speak louder than words, and especially speak louder than attire,” said Rielly.

The Leafs will have rainbow decals on their helmets, but Russian goaltender Ilya Samsonov isn’t expected to wear one.
