Man with sword arrested in Ancaster

On Wednesday afternoon, Hamilton Police responded to the area of Liam Dr. and Derbyshire St. in Ancaster for a suspicious male carrying a sword.

The male carrying the sword also called 911 and advised he had a number of edged weapons in his possession and indicated he was going to purchase more.

Hamilton Police located the male on the Parkland adjacent to Bishop Tonnos School on Panabaker Dr. in Ancaster.

Hamilton Police immediately engaged the suspect. The suspect was not cooperating with Police. He refused to drop the sword and began to remove his clothing.

The officers used their tasers and were able to make the arrest.

A 20-year old Ancaster male has been arrested.

He was transported to hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Charges are pending. There was no indication that the students or staff from the school were associated to the incident.
