Man wanted in connection with stabbing incident in Welland

Niagara police have identified a man and issued an arrest warrant for a man involved in a stabbing incident in Welland.
On July 30, at around 2:27 a.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing incident at the Kavern Bar located on the corner of Maple Avenue and Prince Charles Drive.
Police say a man in his 20’s was found with a serious stab wound and that his injuries were believed to be non-life threatening.
Investigation determined that the victim and suspect has been in the bar through out the night. They did not know each other. Then, at around 2:30 a.m., an argument escalated in the parking lot and the victim attempted to intervene. The suspect stabbed the victim and then ran from the area.
Paul Rodney Junior Witter, 23, is wanted for aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Witter is described as black, 6’1″, 165 lbs, medium build, black moustache/goatee, brown eyes, scar near left knee. Police say he lives in Welland but has ties to various communities in the Greater Toronto Area. His current location is unknown and it is believed he is taking steps to evade police and maybe being assisted by people he knows.
