Man wanted for arson in two dumpster fires in Hamilton

Hamilton Police are asking for help to identify a man wanted for setting two fires.

Emergency crews were called to a dumpster fire on at 1554 Main St., a few streets west of Cootes Dr., on Friday June 19 around 10 p.m.

Police say the bin was fully engulfed.

It was quickly extinguished and no other damage occurred.

Video footage shows a man starting the fire and walking away.

Another fire was reported nearby a few minutes later, near St. Mary’s Catholic Secondary School.

Police believe the person seen on camera is responsible for both fires.

He’s described as a heavy-set man in his 20s.

He has dark, medium-length hair and was wearing a blue medical mask.

They are asking anyone with information to contact them.
