Man stabbed in downtown Hamilton

A man’s been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing last night in downtown Hamilton.

Police say a 48-year old man was stabbed, around 10, at his apartment above the Happy Hours bar on MacNab Street North. He came home to find his attacker waiting for him. The victim was stabbed several times behind the neck before the assailant was chased out of the building.

The man was taken to hospital but will be OK. Police say the two men knew each other.

Travis Thomson, 29, was arrested at a home on Park Street South. He’ll be in court today for a bail hearing.
