Man sought by Hamilton police after woman sexually assaulted

Hamilton police are searching for a man who is accused of sexually assaulting a woman near a community garden in the city’s east end.
Shortly after 5:30 p.m. on June 20, police say a man boarded a Barton St. bus at Ottawa St. North and travelled eastbound through the city.
He exited the bus at Woodward Ave. between Barton St. East and Melvin Ave. and proceeded to walk southbound through the McQuesten Urban Farm Community Garden.
“The suspect then approached a female in the area of Glengrove Avenue and sexually assaulted her by rubbing his groin against her buttocks,” said police in a news release.
Investigators say the victim did not know the suspect.
Police describe the man as being 16 to 25 years of age, with a thin build, and black hair. He was wearing a backpack, denim shorts, a black t-shirt, black shoes, a black face mask, and was carrying a skateboard with a green design.
Anyone with information that could help police with the investigation is asked to contact Det. Jeremy Miller of the Sexual Assault Unit at 905-540-5050 or the Victims of Crime office at 905-540-5553.
