Man shot dead outside home in Stoney Creek

Hamilton police are investigating after 42-year-old Giorgio Barresi was fatally shot outside of his home in Stoney Creek.

Emergency crews responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the area Portofino Place around 10:45 p.m. Monday.

Officers found a man outside of a home suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics attempted to save his life but he died from his injuries at the scene.

Friends and neighbours have identified him as Giorgio Barresi. A local realtor described as a family man.

The Major Crime and Forensics units have been called in to help investigate.

Police say they have no suspect description at this time.

Witnesses told CHCH News they heard what sounded like a vehicle speeding away moments after the gunfire.
