Man shot by OPP in Kawartha Lakes has died: SIU

A post-mortem is scheduled Friday for a man who was shot and killed by OPP in an incident that also left his one-year-old son dead.

The 33-year-old father died on Tuesday after being shot in Kawartha Lakes last week.

The Special Investigations Unit says he had just crashed his pickup truck into a cruiser, injuring a provincial police officer, when three cops opened fire on him.

He was wounded, and his son was found dead of a gunshot wound inside the truck.

The SIU says that before the crash, police had been investigating the man for allegedly kidnapping the boy.
