Man shot by Hamilton Police dies in hospital

The Special Investigations Unit says the man shot by Hamilton Police on Tuesday has died.

The 42-year-old was shot at a parking lot at Cannon St. and Gage Ave. around 4 p.m.

He was inside a vehicle.

Photos sent to CHCH News show what appears to be a sawed off shotgun on the roof of the car.

Police say they were looking for a man with a gun after some sort of domestic incident.

According to an SIU release, the man died in hospital the following day.

The police watchdog is currently investigating the case.

It confirms two officers were involved in the shooting.

Four other officers, designated as witness officers, have been interviewed.
