Halton police are investigating after emergency responders found a man on the ground with serious injuries and a truck mounted on a guardrail in Burlington.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday near Dundas St. and Appleby Line.

Emergency crews responded to the area and found a Ford Ranger truck atop the guard rail on the north side of Dundas St. and a 47-year-old man lying on the ground.

He was rushed to a trauma centre in serious condition.

Police say it appears the pick-up truck was travelling eastbound when it may have suffered a mechanical issues. The victim stopped to try and investigate the issue when the truck accelerated across the eastbound lanes, across the median and across the westbound lanes before mounting the guardrail.

“The male fell to the ground in the westbound lanes sustaining serious injuries,” said Halton police in a news release, adding the victim was not struck by another vehicle.

He remains in hospital in serious condition.
