Man seriously injured during arrest prompts SIU investigation

Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating in Hamilton after a man suffered serious injury.

The Special Investigations Unit said at around midnight officers were called to an A&W restaurant on King Street West near Bay Street for a disturbance and located a man near Gore Park.

The SIU said there was an interaction with the man just as he was arrested.

The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Investigators are now working to examine the circumstances of the incident.
