Man in serious condition after stabbing in St. Catharines

A man is in hospital in serious condition after an overnight stabbing in St. Catharines.

It happened around 11:40 p.m. Saturday at a home in the area of Ernest St. and Cecil St.

Emergency crews found a man suffering from serious but non-life threatening injuries when they arrived at the home.

He was air-lifted to an out-of-town hospital for treatment.

A 44-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault.

Niagara police say the incident is being investigated as a domestic disturbance and the name of the accused will not be released in the interest of protecting the identity of the victim.
