Man run over and killed by dump truck in Niagara Falls

A man was run over and killed by a dump truck this afternoon in Niagara Falls. It happened on Drummond Road near Dunn around 3 pm. Police believe the man was in his mid 30’s. He was hit by the dump truck, which was part of a crew involved in the resurfacing of a gym parking lot in the area. Emergency crews were called to the scene, but it was clear very quickly that the victim wasn’t going to survive.

The collision reconstruction team was called in — as was the Ministry of Labour and the coroner. The area was closed for several hours while police investigated. There’s no word tonight on the man’s identity, but witnesses say it looked like he had been carrying groceries when the truck hit him.
