Emergency crews pulled a man from the Welland Canal early Sunday morning.

Niagara Regional Police say they found a 35-year-old man clinging to the west wall of the canal in Port Colborne around 3 a.m.

Police say he fell, and alcohol may have been a factor.

Several residents called 9-1-1 after hearing the man’s cries for help.

He was treated for hypothermia after his rescue.
