Man nearly hits several people with car to evade arrest in Milton

Halton police are looking a man who is accused of nearly striking several people with a vehicle in an effort to evade arrest.
Police say a man stole $800 worth of merchandise from a store on Steeles Ave. East in Milton.
Security staff stopped the man and told him he was under arrest for theft. Police say the man ran into a vehicle in the parking lot when he saw officers arriving on scene.
“The male then drove at officers and pedestrians in the parking lot in a dangerous manner. He drove away in a stolen 2017 Chevrolet Malibu,” said Halton police in a news release.
Police describe the suspect as five-foot-ten, in his late twenties, 140 to 150 lbs, a fair complexion and a thin build. He was wearing a black converse jacket, blue hoodie, blue jeans, dark coloured shoes, and New York Yankees black hat.
He is wanted on several charges including theft under $5,000, resist arrest, escape lawful custody, and dangerous driving.
