Man killed in shootout with police

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate after a deadly shooting south of Owen Sound.

O-P-P were called to a business in Rockford last night after a report a man had been shot.

As police tried to contain the area, a pickup truck sped away and was followed by police to Kemble, where the truck was stopped by a spike belt.

Police say the man got out holding a gun and a number of shots were fired by both police and the suspect before he took off again on foot.

A canine unit found his body about 40 minutes later.
