Man killed by train in Milton

A man is dead after a train collided with his car in Milton.

Police say the man was in his 70’s and he died after a CP Rail freight train hit his car on Fifth line, between Derry Road and Main Street just before 9:00 Friday morning.

Witnesses say he drove around the railway arms, which were lowered with lights flashing.

He was the only one in the car at the time.

We have learned the man is from Mississauga but police haven’t released his name.

An accident reconstruction team is on scene and police say the area is expected to be closed for several hours while they investigate.
