Man injured during robbery at Hamilton’s Gage Park

A man was taken to hospital Thursday night following a robbery at Hamilton’s Gage Park.
Police say the man was exercising in the North West corner of the park around 7 p.m. when he was approached by a teenager who struck up a conversation with him.
The teen then told the man to hand over his personal belongings. When the victim refused, the would-be thief assaulted him with an unknown weapon before fleeing the area.
The victim was treated on scene by Hamilton paramedics and then transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries to his upper body.
Police searched the area but did not locate the suspect. He is described as being between 13 and 16 years of age, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, and a black face mask.
Hamilton police say officers will be in the area Friday canvassing for potential witnesses.
Detectives from the East End Station Criminal investigation Branch continue to investigate this incident and are asking anyone who was in the area at the time or has information about this incident to contact Acting Det. Sgt. C. Mukendi at 905-546-2907 or Acting Det. Cst. Wojtasik at 905-546-2406.
