Man in life-threatening condition after being electrocuted at Pelham construction site

A 20-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being electrocuted at a construction site in Pelham on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the area of Port Robinson and Rice roads shortly before 1:30 p.m. for reports of a workplace accident.

Investigators say a man was on a ladder when his tool touched an electrical wire and electrocuted him.

Paramedics arrived to find the conscious, but confused employee lying on the ground.

When the area was deemed safe, paramedics treated the man who suffered significant burns to his body and a head injury.

He was then transported to an out-of-region hospital for further care.

The Ministry of Labour has been notified and is expected to attend the scene.
