Man in hospital following assault in east Hamilton

Hamilton police are investigating after a 31-year-old man was assaulted in east Hamilton.

Police were called to assist paramedics at a convenience store in the area of Barton St. East and Strathearne Ave. around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

The victim told police he had been assaulted at a nearby residence. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Officers confirmed there was an incident at the home but the victim is not cooperating with police.

“Police are unable to determine what caused the injury to the male or who is responsible,” said Hamilton police in a news release.

Officers are no longer on scene.
