A man is in the hospital after police found him unconscious in a burning vehicle at a Milton park early Friday morning.

Halton police responded shortly after 2 a.m. to the single-vehicle crash at Coates Neighbourhood Park on Philbrook Dr.

Officers say the driver was travelling westbound on Clark Blvd. when he lost control of his blue Nissan Versa, which appears to be a shuttle service vehicle for Waterdown Collision.

The car then went straight through the intersection, crashed into some trees and burst into flames.

An officer had to cut the lone man’s seatbelt and drag him away from the burning car.

Officers also used fire extinguishers from their cruisers to put out the flames before the ruptured gas tank ignited.

The man was in critical condition when he was taken to the hospital, but currently remains there in stable condition.
