Man found deceased in vehicle with hazardous materials

On Monday February 29, 2016, just shortly after 9:30am emergency crews responded to a home on Houghton Avenue North after receiving reports that a man inside of a vehicle in a driveway was in need of medical assistance.

Emergency crews arrived on scene to investigate and provide care. When crews arrived, the man appeared dead inside the vehicle.

Emergency crews also found suspected hazardous materials inside the vehicle.

Surrounding homes were told to remain indoors as a precaution to ensure their safety.

Houghton Avenue North between Dunsmure Road and Main Street East has been restricted to emergency crews including the Hamilton Fire Departments Hazardous Materials Response Team who are dealing with the incident to ensure the public’s safety.

In addition, Delta High School was notified regarding the reason for the increased presence of emergency responders.

The incident is still being investigated but no criminal foul play has been identified at this stage of the investigation.
