Man found dead after fire

A man is dead after a fire last night in an apartment building on Queenston Road in Stoney Creek.

Firefighters responded around 9 pm to battle a blaze in a unit on the fourth floor at 971 Queenston Road — just east of Centennial Parkway.

Damage was limited to the one unit, but when firefighters entered, they found the man inside.

Queenston Road was blocked for a couple of hours until the fire was put out.

The fire marshal’s office has been called to investigate.
