A 54-year-old man is facing multiple firearm charges following an investigation in Welland.

Back in July, Niagara Regional Police Service detectives launched a firearms investigation in the area of Darby Rd. and Schisler Rd.

Investigators executed a search warrant in the area on Wednesday and located Remington 770 rifle and two rounds of ammunition.

Michael Racine, of Welland, was arrested and charged with careless storage of firearm, possession of firearm contrary to prohibition order, and possession of firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.

Racine has been released from custody pending a future court date.
