Man dies under truck at airport

A young man has died on the job in a parking lot at Pearson International Airport. He was removing snow when his truck malfunctioned and crushed him. Police are just wrapping up their part of the investigation and the Ministry of Labour will begin an investigation.
The 23-year old man was contracted to do some snow removal in this employee lot at Pearson’s Value Park Garage. He was apparently having trouble with his truck’s hydraulic system — the part that lifts the flatbed to dump out the snow. While he was trying to find the problem, it collapsed on him, pinning him underneath. Paramedics and an air ambulance were called but Ornge was called off when he couldn’t be revived. The young man’s dad witnessed the accident — he was giving his son a hand on the job on this night. Police are still trying to piece together exactly what happened.
Constable Thomas Ruttan is with the Peel Regional Police: “The Ministry of Labour has been called in and they will be doing an investigation along with us. At this point, it doesn’t appear that there is going to be any criminality to what’s taken place.”
Police are still holding the scene. An autopsy will be performed to find the exact cause of death.
