Man dead after stabbing near St. Catharines’ Old Pine Trail

A 29-year-old man is dead following a stabbing near the Old Pine Trail in St. Catharines last night.

Police said it happened around 9:30 p.m. in the area of Vine St. and Old Pine Trail.

Officers found a man with injuries and no vital signs when they arrived. The man was pronounced dead shortly after.

Niagara police have arrested and charged Keenan George, 28, of St. Catharines with second-degree murder.

George is currently being held in custody pending a video bail hearing Friday.

The victim and the suspect were known to each other, police said.

There is currently no threat to public safety.
