Man Convicted and sentenced on sexual assault charges

On the morning of May 20, 2015, Hamilton Police arrested a male for several sexual offences after a lengthy investigation.

Over the 18 month period, the accused allegedly befriended two teenaged females and sexually assaulted them.

Hamilton Police have arrested 55 year old John Vermeire from Dundas.

Two more victims have come forward since the arrest.

John Vermeire worked at the formerly named Highland Secondary School in Dundas, now Dundas Valley High School since the early 1990’s.

On Thursday June 2, 2016, John Vermeire was sentenced to 5 years and 4 months in custody.
