Man charged in overnight stabbing

A Hamilton man is charged with aggravated assault after a stabbing on Grant Avenue early this morning.

Police were called to an apartment at around 3 this morning, where they found a man with several stab wounds to his stomach. Officers say two men were fighting, when one of the men stabbed the other with a knife. They add the two knew each other.

A 23-year-old Hamilton man was taken to hospital, but is expected to be OK. Michael Lavelle, 32, of Hamilton was arrested and charged; he’s being held for a bail hearing.
