Man charged in Stoney Creek crash that killed 2, injured 2

A Hamilton man is facing charges following a two-vehicle crash that killed two woman and sent two others to hospital Saturday night.
The collision happened around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highland Road East and Tapleytown Road on Stoney Creek Mountain.
Police say a man driving a 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 struck a 2013 Ford Flex with four occupants who were travelling northbound on Tapleytown Road.
Officers say two 50-year-old woman in the Ford died. Two men, aged 56 and 51, were taken to hospital with severe injuries. One man remains in hospital in stable condition.

Investigators found the driver of the Dodge Ram near the scene, where he was taken into custody.
Goran Duvnjak, 36, has been charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and two counts of fail to remain causing death.
Hamilton police say Duvnjak appeared in court Sunday.
The intersection of Highland Road East and Tapleytown Road was closed for an investigation, but has since reopened.
