Hamilton police have charged a 38-year-old man after two women were sexually assaulted on a trail near McMaster University Saturday evening.

Officers say an unknown man approached the two ladies walking around 7:30 p.m. on Chegwin Trail.

Investigators say the man quickly spoke to the women before sexually assaulting them both.

The women fought the suspect off and then contacted police.

Hamilton police, McMaster Security Services and community members worked together to find the man.

Micheal Smith of Hamilton has been arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault.
