Man charged after woman struck by vehicle in Hamilton

A woman has been taken to hospital after she was found suffering from serious injuries in the backseat of a car.
Police responded to reports of a woman being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Cannon St. East and Belmont Ave. around 4 a.m. Tuesday.
When officers arrived, they pulled over a black 2006 Cadillac and spotted an injured woman in the backseat.
Hamilton paramedics transported the woman to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Police believe she was struck by the Cadillac.
Officers searched the car and found illicit drugs and an undisclosed amount of cash.
A 44-year-old man was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, criminal negligence cause bodily harm, proceeds of crime over $5,000, and possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling.
Police say more charges may be laid.
