Man charged after stealing golf cart and driving it on the QEW

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a man after he drove a stolen golf cart on the QEW.

Police say the joy ride started at Appleby College around 12:00 a.m. where the man stole the blue and black golf cart. He then took the cart onto the highway and drove nearly 20km before he got off on Brant street.

OPP say that there were multiple calls to report the vehicle. They were able to catch up with it around 12:40 p.m. at Mapleview Mall. Police say the man tried to escape them by entering the mall but the doors were locked.

The man was arrested and charged with theft over $5,000.
