Man charged after crime spree involving stolen vehicles and break-ins: Hamilton Police

A Hamilton man faces several charges in what police are calling a “lengthy crime spree” involving stolen vehicles and business break-ins.

Police say a Pontiac Vibe was stolen from the city’s east end on Oct. 26. A day later, the vehicle was used during a break-in at an east mountain hair salon where a cash register was stolen.

A restaurant in Waterdown was broken into just two days later. The same vehicle was spotted and police say cash was stolen from the register. The vehicle was recovered by Hamilton Police.

Police say on Nov. 14, a Volvo SUV was stolen from a parking lot in Ancaster. A man was seen on camera with the vehicle in a parking lot two days later. That vehicle was also recovered.

On Dec. 4, an unlocked vehicle was stolen from a used car dealership in the east end of the city.

Police say that vehicle was used in several break-ins and attempted break-ins, including at a lighting store, gas station and variety store.

The stolen vehicle was located and recovered by Police on Dec. 7.

Police say detectives identified a suspect and arrested him leaving a residence in east Hamilton on Dec. 8.

Frederick Yensen, 43, of Hamilton faces the following charges:

  • Break & Enter Commit Theft – five counts
  • Break & Enter with Intent
  • Attempt Break & Enter
  • Theft Under $5000 – two counts
  • Theft Over $5000
  • Possession Stolen Property Under $5,000 – three counts
  • Possession Stolen Property Over $5,000 – two counts
  • Drive while Disqualified
  • Failing To Comply with Probation order – 11 counts
