Man charged after 4 bodies found in Markham home

A 23-year-old man has been arrested after four bodies were found inside a home in Markham.

Menhaz Zaman is facing four counts of first-degree murder in what police are describing as a quadruple homicide.

He was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after York Regional Police officers were called to the home for reports of multiple people injured.

Police say Zaman answered the door when officers arrived but did not say who phoned in the tip.

The victims are three adult women and one man. Investigators did not say whether the victims and the accused knew each other.

Police say the victims’ identities will be confirmed by the Coroner through postmortem examinations.

Zaman is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
