Halton police say a Mississauga man has been arrested in what they say appears to be a random and unprovoked stabbing at Clearview Park in Oakville.

Officers were called to the park, near Kingsway Dr. and Winston Churchill Blvd., around 7 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a man approaching random people in the park.

While officers were searching for him, they were told a man in his 60s had been stabbed.

They located the victim, who was taken to a trauma center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A 34-year-old Mississauga man was found and arrested by police a short time later.

Halton police say charges are pending. They say there is no known relationship between the man and the victim.
