Man arrested for stabbing incident outside Jackson Square

The man who was stabbed in front of Jackson Square last Friday has been released from hospital and the person believed to be responsible is now in custody.

Hamilton police say they were called to King and James around 4 p.m. and found a 20-year-old Stoney Creek man with serious injuries. The attacker had fled the scene.

Police identified a suspect and determined that he and the victim are known to each other.

20-year-old Douglas Barker from Hamilton was arrested at a home in the area of Wilson and Wellington street on Wednesday.

Barker is facing a couple of charges including aggravated assault.
