Police have arrested a 27-year-old man from Hamilton following a sexual assault that took place Monday on Stoney Creek Mountain.

Police say a an underage girl was exiting a bus in the area of Mud St. West and Paramount Dr. around 11:40 p.m. when an unknown man followed her off the bus.

Officers say the man continued to follow the victim towards a nearby trail where he sexually assaulted the woman.

The 27-year-old man who remains unnamed, has been arrested and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual explicit material under 16 years.

Police say the accused is set to appear in court at a future date.
