Man arrested for arson for truck fire in Niagara Falls

A man has been arrested for arson in a vehicle fire in Niagara Falls on Sunday.

Emergency crews were called to a truck fire in the driveway of a home in the area of Heximer Ave. and Dunn St. around 9:30 p.m.

Police say a Ford pickup truck was on fire in the driveway.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire. The truck was destroyed with damage estimated at $80,000. Damage to the home is estimated at $10,000.

Police say the owner of the truck was home at the time and was not injured.

Police arrested 54-year-old Stephen Burns. He’s charged with arson – damage to property and arson – disregard for human life.

Police say Burns did not know the victim.
