Man arrested after hours-long standoff in Grimsby

Niagara police have made an arrest in an incident in Grimsby that resulted in an hours-long standoff.
Police were called to the area of Murray St. and Olive St. around 10 a.m. on Wednesday for reports of a naked man attempting to enter homes in the area.
They say when officers arrived on scene, he “advanced aggressively” and assaulted an officer.
When the man again advanced on the officers, they used a taser but it was ineffective.
Police say the man continued to resist arrest and ran away to his home, where he barricaded himself inside.
The emergency task unit, K9 and crisis negotiators were called to the home.
A nearby school and daycare were put on lockdown as a precaution.
The man was arrested around 6 p.m.
Attila Buri, 50, was arrested and charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer.
