Man arrested after barricading himself in Brantford apartment with firearm

A man has surrendered to police after barricading himself with a firearm in a Brantford apartment for nearly five hours Sunday evening.
Officers responded around 7 p.m. to 129 Wellington St. where one man had been assaulted and several others were allegedly threatened. One man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police ordered residents in 129 Wellington St. and 150 Darling St. to shelter in place as investigators believed the suspect was in possession of a firearm.

Investigators say the male suspect barricaded himself in an apartment until 11:50 p.m. when he finally surrendered to police and was taken into custody without incident.
The shelter in place order has now been lifted.
Officers remain at the scene to complete the investigation.
