Man appealing murder charge

A man serving a life sentence for second-degree murder in the Boxing Day death of Toronto teen Jane Creba is appealing his conviction.

15 year old Creba was shopping with her mother and sister on Yonge Street on Boxing Day 2005 when she was caught in the crossfire of a shooting between rival gangs.

Jorrell Simpson-Rowe, who was 17 at the time, was handed a life sentence with no chance of parole for seven years.

He’s now appealing on the grounds that the verdict was “unreasonable.”

The appeal goes before the courts Tuesday.
