Man airlifted to hospital following crash into St. Catharines Walmart

A man was airlifted to hospital on Friday after he crashed into the exterior wall of a Walmart in St. Catharines.
Niagara police were called to the store located at 525 Welland Ave. around 12:30 p.m. for reports of a car hitting the building.
Members from Niagara EMS and St. Catharines Fire treated the male driver at the scene before he was transported to an out of region hospital by air ambulance.
The female passenger was also treated at the scene for serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police say the collision is still under investigation but they suspect the driver suffered a medical incident, causing the crash. No charges have been laid.
