Man, 77, dead following crash in St. Catharines

One man has died following a serious car crash in St. Catharines last night.

Niagara police say that emergency crews were called out to Grantham Avenue north of Scott Street for a vehicle collision just after 4 p.m.

Officers say a man driving a black Dodge Caliber had struck a tree.

The driver was transported to hospital in serious condition but was later pronounced dead by paramedics.

Authorities say it isn’t clear what led up to the crash and add that detectives with Niagara’s reconstruction unit have been assigned to the case.
