A 37-year-old man is wanted by police after an argument at an encampment in Welland turned violent and led to an explosion and fire under a bridge on Wednesday afternoon.

Niagara police were called to the Division Street Bridge around 4:20 p.m. for reports of a fire and explosion.

Upon arrival, emergency officials found a fire burning at an encampment under the bridge that is believed to have been caused by propane cylinders exploding.

Investigators say the victim and suspect, who were known to one another, were involved in an argument that became violent when the victim was robbed of his belongings and a tent was set on fire.
