Man, 32, arrested in fatal hit-and-run of Hamilton senior and his dog

A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the lives of Hamilton man and his dog earlier this year.
A 70-year-old man and his three-year-old dog died were struck by a vehicle while crossing Lawrence Rd. near Cochrane Rd. around 8:30 p.m. on Jan 30.
Officers arrived on scene and found the man and his dog on the ground.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries but later died. His dog was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the time, police launched a search for the driver of a white Chevrolet who fled the scene.
On Tuesday, Hamilton police charged Andrew Muir, of Hamilton, with fail to stop cause death, operation while prohibited and two counts of fail to comply probation.
Police say Muir’s bail has been opposed.
