Man, 24, charged in shooting of 7-year-old boy in Hamilton

Hamilton police have arrested a 24-year-old man in a shooting that left a seven-year-old boy with injuries.

The child was inside a home on Gordon St. near Barton St. on Jan. 23 when someone fired multiple gunshots into the house from the backyard.

The gunman fled the scene in a vehicle with several other people.

The boy suffered two wounds and was rushed to hospital. He was treated and released but police say he still receives medical care for his injuries.

There were three adults inside the home at the time of the shooting as well as another child who was uninjured.

Police say the vehicle has been identified but the firearm involved has not been recovered.

Mohd Amiri has been charged with discharge firearm with intent, aggravated assault, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, careless use of a firearm, occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm, and fail to comply with release order.
