Magna is investing over $470 million to boost its operations across Ontario, which includes a new electric vehicle battery facility in Brampton.

Magna says they will also expand their existing manufacturing facilities in Guelph, Newmarket, Belleville, Penetanguishene and Windsor, which are expected to provide over 1,000 jobs over the following few years.

The Ontario government announced that it is supporting the project with $23.6 million in funding through Invest Ontario.

Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade says the expansion will help Ontario create an end-to-end electric vehicle supply chain.

The new Brampton location is a leased facility, Magna says it is set to operate later this year.

The investment will also add an e-coat, molding and welding capacity to its exteriors plant in Guelph to support the manufacture of electric vehicles.
