Mac prof named top health scientist

A McMaster professor has been named this year’s top health scientist by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

Gordon Guyatt is being recognized for his role in changing how doctors practice medicine. He first coined the term ‘evidence based medicine’ in 1990.

Guyatt graduated from McMaster’s medical school in 1977, and returned as a faculty member in 1983. He’s also been awarded the titles of distinguished university professor, a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and an officer of the Order of Canada.
