Mac lab evacuated

There was a brief scare at McMaster University Tuesday after fire and police responded to what was believed to be a gas leak, in the tandem accelerator lab.

Students were not in classes, but staff were evacuated from two science buildings.

It turned out there was nothing to worry about.
A hydrogen gas alarm went off inside the lab – but officials say it wasn’t because of a spill or a leak. They’re still trying to figure out what triggered the alarm.
The event did tie up resources and a “hold and secure” was put in place at two nearby schools. It was lifted once the all-clear was given.
