Another big success for for the Mac Kids miracle weekend.

Individuals and corporations donated a total of $5.1 million for McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton. The donations help purchase state-of-the-art equipment, and provide funding for some major renovations that are currently underway.

Mac Kids president Dr Peter Fitzgerald says the hospital is halfway through its $10 million emergency renovation project. “That will be approximately another year, and then there’s 2 big components left, which is re-doing all our surgical suites and then our diagnostic imaging – or radiology – department, so it’s still a ways to go.”

Fitzgerald estimates it’s “probably about 2 and a half years before we’re completed.”

CHCH is a partner in the fundraiser, providing live broadcast segments complemented by three televised broadcasts of the specially created Mac Kids documentary, “Where Dreams Take Flight”.
